ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The identities of the deceased man and woman found inside a north St. Louis apartment, Friday, have been confirmed.
Police did not release any information, Saturday, about the investigation into when 55-year-old Christine Holland and 86-year-old Louis Burrows died and why.
The humane society was called to their home in the 800 block of Grape Avenue, due to a complaint about an abandoned dog.
The odor inside the apartment was so strong, the inspector called the fire department.
Responders said it appeared the woman had been dead for several weeks and the man, longer than that.
Foul play is not suspected.
Several dead pets were also found inside the home.
The humane society rescued two dogs and six cats.
our earlier story:
ST. LOUIS, Mo (KMOX)-Investigators are trying to determine?how long?a man and?woman whose bodies found in a north St. Louis apartment along with several deceased pets,?have been dead,?and what caused their deaths.
The victims were found after?the Humane Society?was called to the 800 block of Grape by a neighbor concerned about a possibly abandoned dog. Society Animal Cruelty Investigator Anne Vincent says when she got there she found a deceased dog outside,?but?she suspected something else was?going on at the house,??There was an odor from the door. The fire department responded as well. Unfortunately at that time we discovered that the owner had actually passed.?
Police say the woman, who had been dead for several weeks, was in her 50?s.
Then, as the bodies of three dead dogs, a dead cat and two dead birds were being removed, the body of a man who, police say, had been dead?for?some time?was found in a back room.
Vincent says the neighbor who had?made the initial call said she hadn?t seen the neighbors for a while, ?She may have said up to a week. Another neighbor confirmed up to two weeks was the last time they had seen the owner.?
The victims? names are not being released.
Rescuers were able to recover 2 live dogs and 6 live cats. The Humane Society of Missouri has them? are under observation.
